Weekly'ish News from SHARE

March 18, 2021

Dear SHARE:

Here are some timely news from your friends at SHARE!

Administrative Closure Days:
As you have probably heard, campus is observing Administrative closure days next week, March 22 through 26, as well as this Friday March 19th and the Fridays of April 2nd and April 9th. Some SHARE staff will be taking vacation days across this period and service delays are expected. We will have minimal staff covering urgent priorities. RAs will be submitting proposals that were requested on time (a minimum of 10 days prior to the submission due date). If you have an urgent escalation during the administration closure period, please let us know: teal@berkeley.edu and auffhammer@berkeley.edu.

Star/Spot Award Program:
We are pleased to announce this year’s Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Award Program for staff covered by Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) and for clerical staff covered by the CX bargaining unit. The STAR Award program for this fiscal year includes only the Spot Award ($500).

The SHARE Region STAR allocation provides $6,000 in funding to be used for 12 individual SPOT awards, designed to recognize a significant and outstanding contribution on a particular effort above and beyond position duties. The contribution(s) must represent work during the award period (July 2020 through March 2021). Nomination forms should be directed to Darnell Tircuit: dtircuit@berkeley.edu and must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

The SHARE Leadership Team, which includes Supervisors and Managers from each team, will review the nominations and make recommendations to the Regional Director and Regional Associate Dean for final approval. Notifications to nominators regarding the results will be made by May 2020 and all nominations will be shared with staff even if they are not selected for the monetary award. It is nice to know of a nomination even if you are not a finalist! Awards will be distributed by June, 2021.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Jeers and cheers are always welcome!

Warmly,

Teal and Max
