The fall semester is underway! It’s great to see our energetic students return to campus and welcoming the ones that are new to campus! As the days are getting shorter, the lines for coffee are getting much longer! We hope your semester is off to a great start.
Research Administration
SPO is moving to Institutional Review only, beginning September 1. Faculty were alerted to this upcoming change via Cal Message sent earlier this week. Here is a link to the message we sent to faculty in SHARE.
Purchasing
Shortly after UCPath go live, the BearBuy team discovered that new employees are not automatically fed into the Berkeley Financial System (BFS - General Ledger) and BLU Portal after onboarding. This means that they are unable to login to BearBuy or the Direct Entry system for Travel & Entertainment reimbursement. There is no date of resolution yet, so users need to be given access manually. Please email travel@berkeley.edu or log a Service Now IT ticket to A/P's attention, and they can manually set up new employees in BFS and BLU Portal, which then gives them access to BearBuy and T&E Direct Entry for Reimbursements. This is the solution for any new employee who comes to you asking why they are unable to access these systems.
Human Resources
The new HR Partner and HR Generalist allocations have now been updated on our website in the Expandable table under “When you need help from HR.” Please check the table to see the updated staff assigned to your unit(s).
Information about late Summer Salary requests has been added to the SHARE HR Website in the section on Summer Salary Resources. A key upcoming deadline is September 30, 2019 when the summer salary smartsheet will be frozen. Any late requests made between October 1, 2019 and November 1, 2019 can be submitted via Service Now ticket. After November 1, retro summer salary requests will require exceptional APO approval.
And most importantly - Cookie Hour Is Back On!!!!
Now that the semester is back in full swing, we will resume our drop-in cookie hour. Please stop by for a cookie and/or coffee to let us know how we are doing or to simply get a cookie and a hot cup of coffee. With caffeine in it. No lines here. We will be in Durant 14 on Friday, September 13th from 3-4pm and on Friday, October 11th we will be in Durant 120 from 3-4pm. We hope to see you there!
