Spring '23 ASE/GSR and Lecturer Hiring

Dear Campus Colleagues, 

We are writing today to let you know that our SHARE Region HR teams are already working on details for next semester and want to share information about Spring2023 ASE/GSR and Lecturer Hiring processes. Our goal, as in previous years, is to ask for your partnership in identifying these new hires as early as possible. Here are the important details for the next hiring semester based on what we know today to help with your preparation.

Current landscape

Onboarding services provided by our SHARE Region will continue to be completed remotely using a DocuSign packet and individual appointments for applicable Form I-9 work authorization verifications and state oaths. Should that landscape change based on the Dept. of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement directives, we will let you know. 

Spring ‘23 deadlines

As we’ve experienced the last several semesters, Berkeley’s earlydeadlines are impacted by the upcoming winter curtailment timeframes that have recently been announced by People & Culture.  While these deadlines are aggressive, we’re continuing to work on solutions to help mitigate delays. However, we can only assist if you identify your hires and approve them as early as possible

While processes will remain the same, here are the specific actions we want to share with you now.

  1. Refer to the following ASE/GSR and Lecturer Hires webpages. All important ASE/GSR and Lecturer hire details are featured on the BRS website. You can reference all SHARE Deadlines as well.

2. Collect your Spring ‘23 hire information: 

  1. You will continue to enter your new appointments on your existing ASE/GSR Hiring AY22-23 and Lecturer Hiring AY22-23 Smartsheets

  2. No significant changes/updates have been made to these Smartsheets for the next semester.

  3. New appointments must be addedno later than 11/07/22.This will help to ensure there is sufficient time for the DocuSign packets to be completed as well as work authorization appointments (if applicable) to be completed.

  1. Communicate DocuSign packet deadline:

    1. To translate to an on-time 2/1/23 monthly pay date, new employees will need to complete their DocuSign packet by 12/5/22.
