News from SHARE!

September 24, 2021

Dear SHARE:

We have a couple of exciting things to SHARE:

Research Administration:

A big congratulations to David Wolf! As of September 1, David has been promoted to interim RA Supervisor. David has been a team lead for the past couple of years and will now take a more direct role in providing oversight over the management of the grant funds in the SHARE region.

David originally joined our organization through the Research Administration internship program many years ago, under CSS, and quickly demonstrated aptitude in managing research funds and providing quality customer service to faculty and academic department personnel. David is excellent at discovering and resolving grant fund issues that started years ago and has been a key contributor and trainer in the different business processes that we use in SHARE RA. Henry will continue to assist and advise during the initial transition period as David gradually starts to become more directly familiar with the research portfolios under Psychology, CEGA, Social Science Matrix / CEDA / Demography, and other ORUs.

Human Resources:

We are thrilled to announce that SHARE will now be handling all onboarding needs for our region, as well as the ChaMPS region, going forward. Ana Sanchez and her all-star team put in a ton of work to create new, more efficient and compliant onboarding processes, to bring the full scope of work into our region. The Central Onboarding team will no longer be a part of our hiring processes. There is no action for you to take, this is simply for your information. Thank you Ana for taking this on, which will provide a better overall experience for new hires in our region.

Purchasing:

Beginning on November 1st, employees booking flights for business travel will be required to book through the UC travel system Connexxus. This means employee travelers will also need to use the Direct Bill system to generate the identification number that will be used to pay for flights within Connexxus. If you find a lower fare somewhere else, send it to the travel team at travel@berkeley.edu and they’ll find you the rate in Connexxus or potentially grant an exception to book outside the Connexxus system. More information about how to use Connexxus is available on the Travel website.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Teal and Max
