Lecturer Steps/Points in Smartsheet

June 4, 2022

Hello SHARE Region,

As a friendly reminder, please ensure that the Step/Point that are entered for your lecturer appointments/reappointments corresponds to the 07/01/2022 salary step/point table. We have been looking through the Smartsheets and we have noticed that some of the steps/points that have been entered correspond to the old 02/01/2022 salary table.

EX (3% increase): A lecturer’s current salary is at $64,329 (Step 2). They are being reappointed for the AY22-23 (first year) at $66,259. In the Smartsheet, you would indicate in the Step column “2” because it would reflect the new 07/01/2022 rate. (*NOT 3, because that corresponds to the 02/01/2022 scale.)

EX (3% increase + additional 3% merit): A lecturer’s current salary is at $64,329 (Step 2). They are being reappointed for the AY22-23 at $68,247 because they are receiving the 3% range adjustment (centrally applied) and are receiving an additional 3% merit. If the lecturer is receiving the 3% increase (range adjustment) AND an additional 3% merit, they would have to be bumped up a step. In this example, please indicate in the Smartsheet Step “3” based on the 07/01/2022 table.

To avoid the range adjustments being erroneously applied twice, our Region will not update salaries. This way when the July 1, 2022 range adjustments are processed centrally, they will be captured then. Once the range adjustment has been processed centrally, we will cross check the updated salaries in UCPath against the salaries provided on the Smartsheet (the salary inclusive of the central increase) to manually enter the additional 3% merits that some lecturers have received.

As a reminder, we will begin entering pre-six lecturer appointments starting Wednesday, June 8th.

We will be holding office hours on Monday, June 6th from 12:00-1:00PM should you want to ask any questions about how to enter your appointments on the Smartsheet.
