September 30, 2019
Dear SHARE,
Please be aware that starting Monday September 30th until further notice, there is a freeze on pay component changes for employees on the salary tables listed below, due to the processing of faculty range adjustments.
Thanks,
Ana

Dear Colleagues,

Effective October 1, 2019 the ladder-rank faculty salary scales will be adjusted by roughly 5.33%. Professors Above Scale will receive a 3% increase rounded to the nearest $100.  This range adjustment will not apply to tenured faculty in the Haas School of Business or the Law School ladder faculty not yet Professors Above Scale.

The scales that will increase are:

  • Faculty ladder ranks, equivalent faculty, and other faculty – Tables 1 - 5, 8
  • Faculty – Lecturer with Security of Employment Series – Table 1L - 4L, 8L

Please note these changes are not retroactive to July 1, and do not affect summer salary.

Academic Student Employee Salary Scales

Pursuant to the terms of their contract, the Academic Student Employees (ASE) salary scales have been adjusted by a general range adjustment increase of 3% with an effective date of October 1, 2019 for monthly paid employees.

  • Student Titles, Teaching Assistant and Equivalent – Table 18
  • Student Titles, Associate – Table 19 (Berkeley only)
  • Student Titles, Remedial Tutor – Table 20

Please note the Student Learning Center (SLC) and the Athletic Study Center (ASC) are on bi-weekly pay and, will receive the pay increase on the first pay period commencing after the October 1, 2019 bi-weekly pay period.

Furthermore, the salary scales for Graduate Student Researchers and Graduate Student Assistant Researchers are adjusted by 3%, effective October 1, 2019.

  • Student Titles, Graduate Student Researcher – Table 22

The 2019-20 salary scales are available on APO’s website.

Other represented academic personnel will continue to be compensated according to their contracts.

IMPORTANT: After UCPC applies the 10/1 range adjustment, APO will centrally adjust our local components of pay. Due to this two-step process, there will be a freeze to pay component changes for employees on the salary tables listed above beginning on 9/30/19 until further notice.

We ask that you do not enter any PayPath transactions that impact pay such as: job code changes, employee classification changes, salary plan changes, pay rate changes etc.

You may submit the following transactions; these will be processed by UCPath Center:

  • New Hire
  • Concurrent Hire
  • Rehire
  • Termination and Retirement

PayPath transactions that do not impact pay components will also be available:

  • Data Change
  • Extend Job
  • Expected End Dates
  • Short Work Break

If you have any questions about this adjustment, please contact APpolicy@berkeley.edu

Sincerely,

APO
