As we prepare for curtailment, here are a few final things to keep in mind from our teams:
Research Administration:
Due to the winter curtailment, there are earlier deadlines for submitting grant proposals that need to be received by sponsors between December 17, 2021 - January 6, 2022. If you want to apply for a grant during this time and have not already been in touch with a research administrator, please submit an inquiry through our proposal intake form as soon as possible.
We will have a high-volume of transaction work that will need to be completed before curtailment begins, so you may experience a slower response and reduced services from research administrators between December 20 - January 4, 2021.
Human Resources:
If you have not already done so, please enter and approve your ASE/GSR and Lecturer hires on the smartsheet as soon as possible so that anyone that needs to complete onboarding is invited prior to curtailment.
Purchasing and Reimbursement:
Due to receiving facilities closing for curtailment, we are temporarily suspending approving orders of goods as of 12/13 until we return in the new year. Purchasing will be processing all other orders as usual until curtailment. Completely filled requisitions for catalog orders will still be auto-approved during this time. If orders will be shipped and delivered during curtailment, please make sure they are being delivered to an open building or your home address if allowable. For urgent low-value purchases during curtailment, please email Share_purchasing@berkeley.edu and write “Urgent” in the subject line. This email will be checked on December 27-28th of curtailment. SCM will be closed on December 17-January 3. If you have an emergency procurement impacting campus operations during winter break, please email supplychain@berkeley.edu with “EMERGENCY ACQUISITION” in the subject line and a PO or Requisition number. This email will be checked daily.
